The Traditional Service employs traditional liturgies and hymns, with an experience firmly rooted in the traditions of the mainline protestant church.

The Contemporary Service offers a less formal experience for those who do not connect with traditional forms of worship, offering an experience with new songs and more contemporary expression of faith. This is a great place to start if you are new to "church".
Lenten Study begins Wednesday, February 24th and goes through March 17th. There will be two opportunities each day; one in the morning at 10:30 a.m., and another in the evening beginning with a light supper at 6:00 p.m. followed by study at 7:00 p.m. The study portion will include the Gospel lesson for the upcoming Sunday, and discussion on the book entitled Covenant by Jane Fisler Hoffman. Covenant is the most powerful theme is the Old Testament and covenant has been a part of our vocabulary from the beginnings of the church. In the United Church of Christ, with all our fractures and diversity, our covenant with one another as individuals and churches is constantly being challenged. The author carefully weaves us through the Bible and church history and helps us see ourselves in the broad bavric of the church.
Other churches in our UCC River Valley Covenant Cluster will be studying the same material. The Lenten study will conclude with a joint worship service for the Covenant Cluster on Wednesday, March 24th at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Church sanctuary.
April 1 - Maundy Thursday

Thanks to a group of members of the church for gathering and printing into a spiral bound cookbook, familiar recipes from our church family! Our first order sold out very quickly and people were asking for more. Our second order has come in and you can purchase them in the narthex on Sunday mornings or by calling the church office. The cost per book is $10 and you receive 350 certifiably delicious and easy to make recipes you know and love. The profit from the sale of these cookbooks goes to Henry Hosea House to help prepare meals for the ever increasing number of folks who would otherwise go hungry.
The United Church of Christ has launched an emergency appeal for Haiti after the major earthquake devastated the country, leaving thousands dead, injured or homeless. One Great Hour of Sharing funds are being rushed to our Haitian partners to support their initial emergency response. As damage assessments are made and plans for relief , recovery and rehabilitation are developed, additional support will be shared. The need is MASSIVE!
You can help by sending gifts payable to Christ Church marked for "OGHS - Haiti Earthquake Relief". They also need prayers for their people, their leaders, and the emergency and humanitarian aid workers!
The Christ Church family would like to congratulate Dr. Randy Pennington for being named the Kentucky College/University Teacher of the Year by The Kentucky Music Educator's Association (KMEA)! KMEA serves as a voice for Kentucky's music educators and this award is given each year to one professor among colleges and universities in Kentucky who has shown excellence as a music educator. To be considered for this honor, Dr. Pennington had to be first nominated by one of the twelve KMEA districts. He then had to prepare materials for an application that was considered by a select committee at the state level. The application contained a statement of educational philosophy, and letters of recommendation from students, faculty colleagues, and other area educators.
We congratulate Randy and are honored to have him as our Director of Music Ministries at Christ Church!
