Mission Statement

In 2003 we developed a Long Range Strategic Plan that included the following Mission Statement:

"We are Christ Church, United Church of Christ.  We welcome all and respond to Christ's Spirit in God's world."

Strategic Plan Goals:

1. Develop a blended worship service that is more informal and upbeat.
2. Support and emphasize the work of the Evangelism board to welcome and engage diverse visitors and potential members.
3. Encourage and model the branching off of small interest groups that promote building relationships among people and inspire faithful growth.
4. Develop a Young Adult Strategy Team to pilot new and innovative activities to nurture the young adults in our church, and re-engage them.
5. Re-establish a youth ministry for middle high and high school youth.
6. Develop a new structure for pastoral care and lay visitation.
7. Respond to the basic needs of people by providing food and shelter.
8. Respond to the hopes and dreams of families by helping them gain control over their lives and build a future.
9. Shift our attention from only doing collections to active participation.
10. Expand the opportunities for members to understand and/or experience Our Church's Wider Mission projects.
11. Explore the possibility of developing or working with short term adult mission projects.
12. Think in new and innovative ways about how we can make better use of our committee/board time.
13. Make it each person's responsibility to communicate their joys and concerns so that hurt feelings don't fester.
14. Channel resources into leadership recruitment and training related to worship, youth, and children's ministry.
15. Develop a long term plan for maintenance of our facility, particularly looking at accessibility and parking.  Provide funding as needed.
16. Celebrate our successes and the joys of our congregation!
