General Information: Christian Education for Adults and Kids

Beginning Sept. 12, Sunday school for kids takes place from 9:45-10:45 a.m. - the hour between our traditional and contemporary worship services. Several adult Bible and book discussion groups also meet at this time. In addition, there are nursery services available during the contemprary service at 10:45 a.m. During the Sunday school hour you're welcome to have coffee in our fellowship room and get to know some of the other parents at Christ Church.

All are welcome!

Preschool/Kindergarten - Children who are 2 through 5 years old enjoy learning simple Bible stories through play, drama, puppets, music, and crafts.  Teachers are Donna Stinson, Amy Thornton, and Jessica Ballhaus.

First and Second Grade - Children receive weekly take-home Bible stories and express their learning through art, music, and crafts.  Taught by Cindy Bathiany.

Third and Fourth Grade - Weekly Bible stories that mirror the liturgy help children understand worship services along with hands-on learning experiences in the classroom.  Taught by Susan Houben.

Fifth through Eighth Grade - Interactive learning is the key to this active classroom.  Whether it be drama, music, crafts or fun activities - young people gain an understanding of how the Bible plays out in their everyday lives.  Taught by Bert Bathiany.

High School Youth - Bible study, discussion, music, and active learning highlight this class.  Taught by Pastor Dave Schwab and Bud Cross.

Adult Bible and Book Study- Starting Sept. 12, we'll be offering two different classes for adults from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Sundays. Larry Stinson's class that meets in the church library will continue with the DVD series "Living with Questions." On the DVD, Biblical scholars discuss how people live out the messages in the scripture, and the class uses that as a springboard for its own discussion.

In addition, Nancy Bailey will lead a class in a Kergyma study, "Discovering the Bible: a New Generation." The leader's guide describes the course this way:

"It is designed to be a comprehensive introduction to the Bible as a whole. It provides an opportunity for either first-time learners or lifelong students to be guided in their reading and study of scripture. The resources provide a basic introduction to the message of the Bible with special attention to key people, places, events and Biblical ideas.

If you're interested, please contact Nancy Bailey at 781-0801 or baileyso (insert at symbol here) fuse.net. She needs to know how many books to order.

Also, if you're interested in teaching a class or helping out in one of the classrooms, please send us an email or call Bud Cross, chairman of the Board of Christian Education or Julie Mai, superintendent.
