Worship & Music

Christ Church offers both a traditional choir and organ music (at the 9 a.m. service) and a contemporary Christian sound (at the 11 a.m. service.)

Getting involved in worship and music is a wonderful way to share your talent with the congregation.  People with many different levels of ability are invited to join in the fun!

Music director Randy Pennington can be reached at the email address Pennington (insert @ symbol here) nku.edu

Vocal Choirs - Vocal choirs for all ages have graced worship services at Christ Church for many years.  If singing warms your heart, watch for rehersal times and join in the fun!  Chancel Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Hand Bell Choir - If you can count and have a little bit of rhythm, you can play the hand bells!  You'd be surprised what your two bells can do when combined with the entire choir.  Practice is on Thursdays from 6:00-7:15 p.m. in the Chapel.

Praise Team- Supporting the Contemporary worship service music is the goal of this newly forming team.  Consider participating in leading Contemporary worship by singing or playing an instrument in the Praise band!  Rehersals will be posted in the weekly bulletins.

Solo or group performances - If you have a talent for singing or playing an instrument, you can work with our Director of Music Ministries to determine how you can be a part of our worship services.  Your creative expression is music to our ears!

Flowers on the chancel - If you would like to put flowers on the chancel, simply fill out an order form found on the bulletin board across from the church office, then place it in the mailbox for Board of Worship and Music.  Or you can call the church office and talk to Sherri Spaulding.  The cost for flowers is $35.00.  Please make your check to Christ Church UCC.  The order is automatically given to the florist so all you have to do is enjoy your flowers during the services and pick them up after second service.  You might want to bring two vases or plastic bags to transport them.

Greeters, Ushers, and Deacons - Members are encouraged to actively participate in worship services as greeters, ushers, or deacons.  Greeters welcome each person to Christ Church at the door with a friendly smile.  Ushers assist with the offering, communion, and cleaning up. Deacons open and close the church, prepare the Sanctuary for services, hand out bulletins and help serve communion.     If you would like to help out by being an Usher or Deacon, please call Mike Randall regarding first service and Marvin Cox about helping with second service.  If being a greeter is more your style, contact Jeff McDonald.  All are welcome to serve in this capacity.
