... And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
And to walk humbly with your God.
-- Micah 6:8 (NIV)

Tuesday, Aug. 31

Kids Cafe at Camp Washington UCC. We'll be serving dinner to our neighbors in the Washington UCC community on Tuesday, Aug. 31. Volunteers are needed from 4:45 p.m. (or as soon as you can get there after that), to approximately 6:30 p.m. at the church, 2950 Sidney Ave. in Cincinnati.) To sign up, send us an email, or sign the sheet in the narthex at 441-2565. Thank you!

Sunday, Aug. 29-Friday, Sept. 3

Christ Church is a host church for the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Our next hosting session is Aug. 29-Sept. 3. We need volunteers to help serve dinner at the church, drive the van and other duties, none of which will take more than a couple hours one night during the week. If you're interested, please sign up on the sheet in the narthex at Christ Church, or send an email to melissac (insert @ symbol here) zoomtown.com.

Background on the Interfaith Hospitality Network:

Once every 11 weeks, we host families who are temporarily without homes. They sleep overnight at our church for one week, returning each morning to a day center that provides them with social services. During our host week, volunteers from our church cook and serve dinner to the families, serve as dinner hosts, transport families in the van, do laundry and cook breakfast on Saturday or Sunday. In addition, each night one person stays overnight at the church so that a contact for the families is always available.

This is a vital ministry, and there are many ways to serve. Please consider helping out!

Sunday, Oct. 3: CROP Hunger Walk

You have the opportunity to make a difference for those who are hungry
and living in poverty.  Christ Church, along with many other
congregations in our area, will gather on Sunday, October 3rd, for the
second "Crossing Bridges" CROP Hunger Walk.  We're creating a team
of walkers and sponsors to participate.  Please join the team as a
Walker or as a sponsor and pass the message to friends and family.

To join the team, please visit CropWalkOnline.org and click  "Join Team" link next
to our team's name.  To donate to the team, please click
"Make a Gift" beside the thermometer. If you'd rather not join or
donate online, Melissa Cox will have registration packets and more information
about the CROP Walk available at church (or you may contact Melissa at
859-291-1324 or Melissac (insert at symbol here) zoomtown.com.

We gather at St. John's United Church of Christ (415 Park Ave.,
Newport, KY) at 1:30 p.m. for opening ceremonies and step off at 2:00
p.m. The walk will link Ohio and Kentucky by walking bridges to raise
funds and awareness to overcome poverty and hunger.  The walk is
approximately three miles.  A shorter and accessible route is also
an option. Twenty-five (25%) percent of the funds raised will remain in
the area and 75% will go to international efforts.  CROP
(Communities Responding to Overcoming Poverty) is part of Church World
Service.  Go to www.churchworldservice.org for more
information.
